Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators have added their first quarterback to their 2020 recruiting class. Three-star quarterback Anthony Richardson has verbally committed to the Florida Gators. Richardson was on an unofficial visit at the University of Florida for their Friday Night Lights camp. The Gators have been the favorites to land the instate QB since they offered him a scholarship back on May 17th. With Richardson’s commitment, Florida has the 12th ranked 2020 recruiting class and are sixth in the SEC. Anthony Richardson is the third 2020 recruit to commit to the Florida Gators with Josh Griffis and Keyvone Lee. He is also the second offensive recruit to join Florida’s class with Keyvone Lee.

Anthony Richardson is a three-star quarterback out of Eastside High School in Gainesville, Florida. The local quarterback has received some national attention early in the recruiting process. The 2020 QB has received twelve offers from some of the top football programs in the country. Richardson has offers from schools like Boston College, Florida, Louisville, South Florida and Virginia Tech. On 247 Sports, Richardson is the 341st ranked recruit and the ninth ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Richardson is the 408th ranked recruit and the 12th ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country. Florida’s offensive coach and co-offensive coordinator John Hevesy was Richardson’s primary recruiter for the Gators. Quarterback coach Brian Johnson was the secondary recruiter for the hometown kid.
Anthony Richardson is a 6’4” 215 pound dual-threat quarterback. At the FNL camp, Richardson put on a clinic. The rising 2020 QB showed off his rocket arm and his natural throwing ability. Everybody knew that he was a good runner and could beat teams with his legs but also showed that he could do it with his arm as well. In his sophomore season, Richardson passed for 1,234 yards with ten touchdowns through the air. He also had 77 carries for 470 yards averaging 6.1 yards a carry and thirteen rushing touchdowns. The newest Florida commit will need to continue to improve his passing ability to become a true dual-threat QB. Brian Johnson and Dan Mullen has landed a really nice quarterback that should continue to rise in the 2020 rankings.
