Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators have landed one of their top targets in the 2021 class. Four-star defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson has announced he has verbally committed to the University of Florida. Wilcoxson was originally committed to the Gators before he backed off his pledge last April. Wilcoxson recommitted to the Florida Gators while he was on campus for their Friday Night Lights Camp. With Wilcoxson’s commitment, the Florida Gators now have the fifth ranked 2021 recruiting class passing schools like Oklahoma, Michigan, USC and Alabama. Kamar Wilcoxson is the fourth commit in the 2021 recruiting class with George Jackson, Carlos Del Rio and Tyreak Sapp. He’s also the second defensive commit in the class with Tyreak Sapp.
Who is Kamar Wilcoxson?
Kamar Wilcoxson is a four-star cornerback out of Stephenson High School in Decatur, Georgia. The newest 2021 Florida commit is one of the most wanted recruits in the country. During his recruitment, Wilcoxson has received 24 offers from some of the top schools in the country. Wilcoxson has received offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, LSU Michigan, Oregon, Penn State and Texas. He is also one of the highest ranked recruiting in the 2021 recruiting cycle. On the 247 Sports Composite, Wilcoxson is the 219th ranked recruit and the 18th ranked athlete in the country. On Rivals, Wilcoxson is the 17th ranked cornerback in the country and the 18th ranked recruit in Georgia. Florida’s linebacker coach Christian Robinson was the primary recruiter. Florida’s cornerback coach Torrian Gray was the secondary recruiter for the Florida Gators.
Kamar Wilcoxson is a 6’2” 190 pound cornerback. The Peach State defensive back has been clocked running a 4.49 40 yard dash. After watching his film, you can see that Wilcoxson is an electrifying player that is always a home run threat. In high school, Wilcoxson played offense, defense and special teams but will most likely be used as a defensive back at the University of Florida. He played mostly safety in high school but has the ability to play cornerback. He has great size for defensive back but should continue to add more muscle into his frame especially if he becomes a safety. This is a very nice pick up for Todd Grantham and the Florida Gators defense.
