Mike White and the Florida Gators basketball program have added another top recruit to their 2019 recruiting class. Four-star center Omar Payne announced on Twitter that he has verbally committed to the University of Florida. Payne is an instate basketball recruit that has been on Florida’s radar for some time. Payne is the third basketball recruit on the Florida Gators 2019 recruiting class with Tre Mann and Alex Klatsky. With Payne’s commitment, Florida now has the 15th ranked recruiting class in the country and is fifth in the SEC.

Omar Payne is a four-star center out of Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. He is one of the top basketball recruits in the country and has received a lot of national attention. In his recruiting process, Payne has received 20 offers from some of the top basketball programs in the country. Payne has offers from schools like Florida, Florida State, Louisville, Ohio State, LSU, Texas and Wichita State. On ESPN, Payne is the 35th ranked recruit and the tenth ranked center in the country. On 247 Sports, Payne is the 37th ranked recruit and the ninth ranked center in the country. Payne took an official visit to the University of Florida on September 8th.
Omar Payne is a 6’10” 215 pound center. He is a long, athletic player that has a 7’5” wingspan. The newest Florida is a presence in the paint which was a problem for the Gators last season. He has very long arms that helps him grab boards and block shots. He doesn’t take a lot of bad shots and also draws a lot of attention in the paint. Payne has a high motor and plays with a high basketball IQ. Omar Payne is a huge pickup for the Florida Gators 2019 recruiting class as they still have some spots available for C.J. Walker and Scottie Lewis.
