Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators have landed one of the top defensive backs on their recruiting board. Four-star cornerback Jahari Rogers announced that he has verbally committed to the University of Florida. Rogers commits to the Florida Gators about two months after he took his official visit to Florida. With his commitment, the Florida Gators have the eighth ranked recruiting class in the country passing Miami. Jahari Rogers is the 18th commit in the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class. He is the tenth defensive commit in the class with Fenley Graham, Derek Wingo, Tre’Vez Johnson, Rashad Torrence II, Johnnie Brown, Gervon Dexter, Avery Helm, Antwaun Powell and Lamar Goods. He is also the third cornerback in the class with Avery Helm and Fenley Graham.
Who is Jahari Rogers?
Jahari Rogers is a four-star cornerback out of Arlington Senior High School in Arlington, Texas. During his recruitment, Rogers received 32 offers from some of the top football programs in the country. He has offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State and Texas. Rogers is also one of the highest ranked cornerbacks in the country. On 247 Sports, Rogers is the 143rd ranked recruit and the eleventh ranked cornerback in the country. On ESPN, Rogers is the 167th ranked recruit and the 14th ranked athlete in the country. Florida’s cornerback coach, Torrian Gray, was the primary recruiter for the Florida Gators. Florida’s linebacker coach, Christian Robinson, was the secondary recruiter for Florida.
Jahari Rogers is a 6’0” 170 pound cornerback. After watching his film, you can see that Rogers is a good athlete that plays tough and can take a pounding. He moves well with the football in his hands and shows average to above average speed. Rogers played a lot of quarterback in high school but will strictly be a defensive back at the University of Florida. Rogers does need to fill in him frame and add solid weight. This is a very good pick up for the Todd Grantham and the Florida Gators defense.
