Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators have landed one of the 2020 recruits in the country. Four-star wide receiver Leonard Manuel announced he has verbally committed to the University of Florida. Manuel commits to the Gators after taking over five unofficial visits during the season. Before committing to Florida, the in-state wide receiver was previously committed to the Miami Hurricanes before de-committing last April. Leonard Manuel is the eighth commit in the Florida Gators 2020 recruiting class with Josh Griffis, Jaquavion Fraziars, Rashad Torrence II, Anthony Richardson, Gervon Dexter, Keyvone Lee and Kedrick Bingley-Jones. He is the fourth offensive commit in the class with Jaquavion Fraziars, Keyvone Lee and Anthony Richardson. He is also the second wide receiver in the Florida Gators 20202 class.
Who is Leonard Manuel?
Leonard Manuel is a four-star wide receiver out of Vanguard High School in Ocala, Florida. The newest Florida commit has been on Florida’s radar since Jim McElwain was the head coach for the Gators. Even though he’s only a junior, Manuel has received a lot of national attention from some of the top schools in the country. During his recruitment, Leonard Manuel has received 36 offers from many elite programs. He has offers from Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Texas. Manuel is also one of the highest ranked 2020 recruit in the country. On Rivals, Manuel is the 29th ranked recruit and the sixth ranked wide receiver in the country. On the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Manuel is the 36th ranked recruit and the sixth ranked wide receiver in the country.
Leonard Manuel is a 6’4” 200 pound wide receiver. The former Miami commit is one of the best athletes in his class. At the next level, Manuel can probably play both wide receiver and tight end. He’s a big target in the passing game with a lot of room to fill in. He has sure hands and uses his size to his advantage. Manuel does a good job of high pointing the football and can jump well as he also plays basketball. One thing he needs to improve on is his speed. He’s not the fastest receiver in the class but could be a bigger threat if he gains some speed. Manuel will likely be an outside receiver or tight end once he gets to college. He’s a red zone mismatch and can make plays when needed. This is a great get for the Florida Gators and their offense.
