The Florida Gators have competed their three-game sweep against the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Gators defeated the Tide 6-3 Sunday afternoon to close their home series. Florida gets their 20th win of the season. It was Florida’s first SEC sweep of the 2019 season. Jack Leftwich was pulled early from the game due to a hand injury. Redshirt-freshman Hunter Ruth was huge of the bullpen and was key to Florida’s win. Austin Langworthy had a big game as his bat is starting to heat up. Brady McConnell and Kendrick Calilao also stays hot at the dish.
Alabama Crimson Tide
The Alabama Crimson Tide will head back to Tuscaloosa, Alabama with a win against the Gators. Right-handed pitcher Tyler Ras got the start and loss for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Ras threw 1.2 innings allowing three hits, two runs, one walk and no strikeouts. Kyle Cameroon also had a rough appearance he was pitched one third of an inning allowing three hits and two runs. At the plate, Alabama’s offense had a pretty decent game as they scored three runs on nine hits. Former Alabama football player Keith Holcombe went 2-4 with two base hits. Joe Breaux went 2-5 with two singles as well. Brett Auerbach went 1-2 with a walk and T. J. Reeves went 1-1 with a pinch hit two-run home run.
The Florida Gators capped off a great weekend with a big Sunday win against Alabama. Right-handed pitcher Jack Leftwich got the start for the Florida Gators. Leftwich was pulled in the second inning with what appeared to be a blister. Hunter Ruth earned his first win of his collegiate career as he pitched 7.2 innings allowing four hits, one run, one walk and five strikeouts. Florida’s offense finished the series strong as they scored six runs on nine hits. Austin Langworthy went 2-4 with a double and two-run home runs. Brady McConnell went 2-4 with a double to left centerfield. Kendrick Calilao and Wil Dalton both went 2-4 two singles and two runs scored.
The Florida Gators will take a day off before they are back on the diamond. The Florida Gators will host the Florida A&M Rattlers for their only nonconference game this week. Neither team has announced who will be on the mound. You can watch this game on Tuesday night at 6pm EST on the SEC Network+.
