The Miami Marlins pick up another win against the Arizona Diamondbacks in their throwback uniforms. The Fish defeated the D-Backs 5-1 Sunday afternoon to take a 2-1 series lead. The Marlins also went 2-1 on the season wearing their 1997 throwback uniforms. Miami homered three hits in the game against the Arizona D-Backs. Rookie starting pitcher Elieser Hernandez made his first start since the MLB All-Star break. Backup catcher Bryan Holaday extended his hitting streak to ten games.
It was a tough loss for the Arizona Diamondbacks after a dominate 9-2 on Saturday night. Left-handed pitcher Robbie Ray got the start and loss for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Ray threw six innings allowing seven hits, three runs (two earned), no walks and eleven strikeouts. Relief pitcher Andrew Chafin had a rough outing as he pitched 0.2 on an inning, one hit, two runs and a walk. At the plate, the Arizona Diamondbacks offense didn’t get much going as they only scored one run on four hits. Ketel Marte went 1-3 with a single into shallow left and a walk. Nick Ahmed also went 1-3 with a single and base on ball. Alex Avila and Jarrod Dyson both went 1-3 with base knocks.
Flip the M! The Miami Marlins were back in the win column Sunday afternoon thanks to a dominate performance from the bullpen. Right-handed pitcher Elieser Hernandez got the start for the Miami Marlins. Hernandez threw four innings allowing three hits, one run, two walks and two strikeouts. Jose Quijada was great in relief as he pitched two innings, no hits, no runs, a walk and three strikeouts. The Marlins offense had a good day at the dish as they scored five runs with three home runs. Harold Ramirez went 2-4 with a two-run home run to left center field. Martin Prado went 2-4 with two singles. Brian Anderson and Miguel Rojas both went 2-4 with solo home runs.
