The Miami Marlins were back on the win column Tuesday night after a very convincing win over the San Diego Padres. The Fish defeated the San Diego Padres 12-7 with their offense doing a lot of damage to San Diego’s pitching staff. Garrett Cooper and Harold Ramirez continue to stay hot for the Marlins. Starting pitcher Jordan Yamamoto struggled early in the game but settled down and got the win. The Miami Marlins have a 3-1 record against the San Diego Padres this season with two games remaining.
San Diego Padres
It was a rough start to the series as the Padres drop the series opener against Miami 12-7. Left-handed pitcher Logan Allen got the start and loss for the San Diego Padres. Allen threw 2.1 innings allowing seven hits, seven runs and three walks. Relief pitcher Luis Perdomo also had a rough outing as he pitched 3.1 innings allowing three hits, three runs, one walk and three strikeouts. At the plate, the San Diego offense did produce some runs but it wasn’t enough to knock off the Fish. Outfielder Manuel Margot went 2-4 with a solo home run to left field. Hunter Renfroe went 3-5 with three singles and a run scored. Franmil Reyes went 1-1 with a pinch-hit home run and Manny Machado went 1-4 with a double and walk.
Flip the M! The Miami Marlins pick up their 17th home win of the 2019 season. Right-handed pitcher Jordan Yamamoto got the start and win for the Miami Marlins. Yamamoto stays perfect in his MLB career with a 4-0 record. Yamamoto threw five innings allowing four hits, three runs (two earned), two walks and four strikeouts. Reliever Tayron Guerrero looked good in his first outing off the IL as he pitched one inning allowing one hit, a walk and two K’s. The Marlins offense had a great night as they scored twelve runs on fourteen hits. Garrett Cooper went 2-3 with a two-run home run, two walks and three RBIs. Harold Ramirez went 2-5 with two doubles and RBIs. Starlin Castro went 2-5 with a three-run triple and Brian Anderson went 1-4 with a three-run home run.
The Miami Marlins will look to clinch the series win Wednesday night against the San Diego Padres. Right-handed pitcher Trevor Richard will be on the mound for the Miami Marlins. Right-handed pitcher Chris Paddack will get the start for the San Diego Padres. Paddack was a former Marlins prospect but was traded to the Padres for Fernando Rodney.
