The Miami Marlins clinched their four-game series versus the Cincinnati Reds with a 5-0 shutout win. It was also their final game in Marlins Park for the 2018 MLB season. The Fish now have 62 wins on the season and are one win away from not having a one hundred loss season. Rookie starting pitcher Trevor Richards had a great outing as he dominate the Reds with his changeup and location. Backup catcher Chad Wallach hit his first MLB career home run in the bottom of the third.
The Cincinnati Reds head back home with three straight losses to the Miami Marlins. Right-handed pitcher Michael Lorenzen got the start and loss for the Cincinnati Reds. Lorenzen threw four innings allowing nine hits, four runs and two walks. Reliever Sal Romano had a rough outing versus the Fish as he pitched 0.2 of an inning allowing three hits, two runs and a K. At the plate, the Reds were horrible as they only had four hits but didn’t score any runs. Catcher Tucker Barnhart went 1-3 with a single. Scooter Gennett, Eugenio Suarez and Jose Peraza all went 1-4 with base knocks.
Flip the M! The Marlins are back in the win column for third game in a row. Rookie right-handed pitcher Trevor Richard got the start and win for the Miami Marlins. Richards threw seven innings allowing three hits, no runs, one walk and nine strikeouts. Former Barry University pitcher Tyler Kinley pitched one inning not allowing any base runners. The Marlins had a great day at the dish as they score five runs on fourteen hits. Chad Wallach went 3-4 with a three-run home run. Lewis Brinson went 2-4 with a run scored and a RBI. JT Riddle went 2-5 with two singles and Brian Anderson went 3-4 with three base knocks.
The Miami Marlins will be on the road for the rest of the 2018 MLB season. The Fish will take on the Washington Nationals for a three-game series. Rookie right-handed pitcher Sandy Alcantara will be on the mound for the Miami Marlins. Right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg will get the start for the Washington Nationals.
