It was National Signing Day last Wednesday as the Florida Gators baseball class signed the majority of their 2020 recruiting class. One of their commits that signed their National Letter of Intent was right-handed pitcher Jackson Nezuh. The TNXL Academy right-handed pitcher is one of the top high prospects in his class. He’s the 269th ranked prospect and 90th ranked right-handed pitcher in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Nezuh played for the Orlando Scorpions Founders Club Team last summer. Colby Halter made his verbal commitment as a junior and always stayed solid with the Gators. Here is what Gators signee Jackson Nezuh had to say about his recruitment and the Florida Gators.
Sport News Magazine: When did Florida first get in contact with you?
Jackson Nezuh: Right after the summer of my junior year.
SNM: Which coach reached out to you and what did he say to you?
JN: I talked to Coach O’Sullivan and he told me he really liked what he saw from me. He made me an offer to go to his school.
SNM: So he offered you on the spot?
JN: Yes he did.
SNM: When did you commit to Florida?
JN: Two weeks after he offered me.
SNM: What about Florida made you want to be a Gator?
JN: I just knew I wanted to play SEC baseball and UF in my opinion has had the best track record for getting pitchers drafted high.
SNM: What other schools were recruiting you?
JN: I had talked to Tennessee, Virginia, LSU, UCF, FAU, Alabama, and Stetson.
SNM: What schools were at the top of your recruitment?
JN: Florida, LSU, UCF and Tennessee.
SNM: Which Florida coach was the one that recruited you the hardest?
JN: Coach Kevin O’Sullivan.
SNM: What was his message to you?
JN: You know it wasn’t really anything he said I knew a lot about the program already from other players that go there. I know that when you go to the University of Florida its hard work and serious baseball and that’s what I’m all about.
SNM: When did you take your official visit to Florida?
JN: I did it was this past weekend. It was a great experience and I am super excited to be a Gator.
SNM: What did you do on your official visit?
JN: We had breakfast every morning with the players and coaches. Then, we took a tour of the new facility. We also went to the football game and hung with the players in the dorms. On Sunday, we went to the UF v. USF baseball game.
SNM: How did it feel to finally sign with Florida?
JN: It was great honor to be able to sign with Florida and I am looking forward to get on campus!
SNM: What’s next for you now that you’ve ended your recruitment?
JN: Right now I’m just focusing on getting stronger and perfecting my game and getting ready for my spring season.
SNM: If you make it to campus, what kind of player should Florida fans expect out of you?
JN: They should expect a player who will give everything he’s got to get the University of Florida another National Championship.
